There were four interactive scientific sessions. The workshop concluded with the valedictory session, presided by Dr.Jayamohan Raj, Dean SRM College of Nursing. The Major resolutioia passed was to develop a common language among nursing colleges in T.N. to evaluate student's clinical performance.

18th Jan 2004: The Omayal Achi College of Nursing & the Omayal Achi Community Health Centre jointly adopted an old age home and celebrated the 100th birthday of Sigappi Achi.

21st Jan 2004: The College organized the Lamp Lighting for the XII Batch BSc. (N) students. Prof Sarojini Singh, Principal, Balaji College of Nursing was the chief guest. The Omayal Achi College of Nursing, honoured Dr. Sulochana Krishnan, the recipient of Princess Shri Nagarendra award, for the year 2003 instituted by the Thailand Govt. for life caring.

27th Jan 2004: The College got recognition from the Tamilnadu Red Cross Society as regional Red Cross Unit to carry out regular training on First Aid.

Lamp Lighting Ceremony

Apollo College of Nursing, Ayanambakkam, Chennai celebrated the Lamp Lighting of the 8th batch of B Sc. Nursing students, on 29.01.2004. Prof. Latha Venkatesan, Principal, welcomed all. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Joseph V. Thatchil, of Apollo Hospitals. Mr. M. Padmanabhan, Registrar I/C and Finance Officer, The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai was the chief guest who lit the lamp. The Florence Nightingale's pledge was then administered to the students.

The chief guest emphasized that nurses are the vital part of the medical team and encouraged the students by stressing on the significance of nurses in the health care system.

Mrs. Anita Ben, Asst. Professor, rendered the vote of thanks and the ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
