Journal of Information Systems Education, Fall 2009

I hope that your semester has (or will) be a great one. I am back in Boone after a year in France and am enjoying the campus life. I am looking forward to ISECON and hope that I will see many of you at ISECON this year. It should be a good meeting in a great place - Crystal City, which is near Reagan Airport and is an Easy Metro ride to Washington, D.C. We are planning our first ever PhD Symposium at ISECON.

Information Systems Education is an important topic to all of us. Our mission at the Journal of Information Systems Education (JISE) is to be the premier journal on information systems (IS) education. We strive to present material that is relevant, timely, and useful to our readers. To support our mission, JISE emphasizes quality and relevance in the papers that it publishes. In addition, JISE recognizes the international influences on IS education and seeks international input in all aspects of the journal, including content, authorship of papers, readership, paper reviewers, and Editorial Board membership. JISE continually seeks original articles of special interest to IS educators that generally cover one of the following topics: teaching tips; innovative classroom practices; IS curriculum issues; research in IS education; cases for use in an IS classroom; pedagogy in teaching IS subjects; teaching assessment; industry relations; or other related topics in IS education.

I want to thank everyone that helps make JISE the outstanding journal that it is. The Assistant Editors are at the top of my list. They help to get the papers reviewed and accepted. Our Editorial Board is instrumental in our review process and provides a consistency of reviews that is needed to produce a quality journal. To be eligible to be a member of Editorial Board, potential members must have provided quality reviews for the journal over a two year period. We extend invitations for new Editorial Board members at the end of each year.

We have received a large number of paper submissions to JISE in 2009. As a result, we continue to look for individuals interested in becoming a reviewer for JISE. Potential reviewers should send a self-nomination to the editor at iise@appstate.edu. We are looking for reviewers that can be responsive and provide good reviews to papers that have been submitted. Reviewers are acknowledged by name and school affiliation in Issue 4 of each volume. As mentioned earlier, reviewers may also be asked to be part of the Editorial Board after they have established a positive record of reviewing.

JISE is indexed by ABI/Informs, EBSCO Business Source Complete, ProQuest, H.W. Wilson, and Ulrich's Periodicals Directory. JISE is also listed in Cabell's Directory of Publishing Opportunities in Management.
