Election guidelines for churches

UU World: The Magazine of the Unitarian Universalist Association, May/Jun 2004

As fall elections approach, congregations are invited to review what they can and cannot do in the political arena. Please read "The Real Rules: Congregations and IRS Guidelines on Advocacy, Lobbying, and Elections" available on-line at the UUA's Washington Office Web site, www.uua.org/uuawo.>Generally, congregations may support issues, but not specific candidates.

For specific questions please contact Rob Keithan, director of the UUA's Washington Office for Advocacy. He may be reached at (202) 296-4672 x15 or at rkeithan@uua.org.
