New hymnal supplement due in 2005

UU World: The Magazine of the Unitarian Universalist Association, May/Jun 2004

A new supplement to the UU hymnal Singing the Living Tradition is in the works. The hymnal is now ten years old, and with the customary lifespan of a hymnal ranging from 20 to 25 years, a new interim musical resource is needed, according to UUA hymn task force staff liaison Deborah Weiner. "Music plays a large part in our worshipping life," says Weiner. "A lot of good music has been written over the last ten years that we would like to make available to our congregations." The hymnbook addition will provide 60 to 75 new pieces of music.

UUA President William G. Sinkford charged a task force with the creation of the supplement in 2003. It should be available in the summer of 2005 through the UUA bookstore.
