Modal Analysis

Sound and Vibration, Feb 2005

The 1st International Operational Modal Analysis Conference (IOMAC) will be held April 26-27 at the Admiral Hotel, Copenhagen, Denmark. This is the first time that a conference is focusing solely on experimental modal analysis for cases where only the responses are measured. The technical program includes over 100 papers on topics such as:

* OMA background theory

* Civil engineering of buildings, bridges and earthquake resistance

* Aerospace and automotive applications

* Damage detection, monitoring, control and FEM updating

* More than 25 overview papers summarizing available literature

Two preconference courses are offered. The first focuses on the basic issues of operational modal testing of linear structures. This course is given by two very experienced people in the operational modal community - Dr. Carlos Ventura from the University of British Columbia, who has extensive experience in testing of civil engineering structures, and Svend Cade from Bruel & Kjær, who has extensive experience in testing of mechanical structures. The second course is dedicated to cases of nonlinear structures and is given by Dr. Julius Bendat, who is famous for his books on signal processing and vibration engineering, and Dr. Kjell Ahlin, who is known for his work on signal processing and MATLAB implementations.
