Strategic Partnership to Provide Users With Easy to Use XML to PDF Publishing Capability
International Journal of Micrographics & Optical Technology, 2004
RenderX, Inc. and Rascal Software, have formed a strategic alliance, through which Rascal Software will be extending the functionality of their products to include high-quality print and PDF output using the RenderX XEP Rendering Engine.
Rascal Software has embedded RenderX's flagship product XEP into Veredus, its XML-based single-source authoring solution. Veredus, designed for documentation professionals, is an authoring tool for creating complete documentation projects. Veredus customers will be able to create PDF and print output through the embedded XEP software. XEP converts XML documents into a printable form (PDF or PostScript) by applying XSL Formatting Objects styling. XEP is written in Java and supports industry-standard programming interfaces for XML processing, allowing it to be easily integrated into such applications as Veredus.
"Rascal Software's goal is to set the standard for Help authoring tools," said Rob Frankland, president and CEO for Rascal Software. "By offering easy document conversion to a printable form, the frustrating and time-consuming task of updating documents on an individual basis is gone - ultimately enabling professionals to be more productive in a shorter period of time. We believe that together, Rascal Software and RenderX can deliver world class solutions to our customers."
"We are delighted to be working with Rascal Software in this partnership," said Kevin Brown, vice president of sales and marketing for RenderX. "Rascal's Veredus product makes it easy to plan and start a Help project, and is more straightforward than any other Help authoring program I've researched. The sensible, unobtrusive user interface is efficient, productive and painless to use. By integrating Rascal's best-in-class XML authoring solution with RenderX's leading PDF and Print output solution, our joint clients can enjoy the benefits of a proven, standards-compliant solution."
