Ricoh Introduces IS760/IS760D Image Scanner Series

International Journal of Micrographics & Optical Technology, 2005

Ricoh Corporation has introduced the Ricoh IS760/IS760D Image Scanner Series. These two flatbed color scanners are designed to streamline the document workflow process with "impressive speed and reliability, sharp image quality and flawless paper handling with a standard 200-page Automatic Document Feeder".

In today's office environment, businesses continuously seek to perfect the balance between performance and quality. With 400 dpi optical resolution, high-paper feed reliability, and simplex scans as fast as 40 pages-per-minute (ppm) color and 75 ppm black and white, the IS760/IS760D Image Scanner Series significantly enhances workflow efficiency. The scanners' Ultrasonic Double Feed Detection delivers dependable document feeding with less double feeding of mission-critical documents. Additionally, with what is claimed to be "a more durable design than other scanners in its class", the feed rollers never have to be replaced, ensuring uninterrupted performance.

To expedite the scanning process, the IS760D Image Scanner supports One-Pass Duplex Scanning technology, which enables both sides of a document to be captured at the same time. This allows for fast scans of 62 images-per-minute (ipm) color and 122 ipm black and white image capture. The IS760/IS760D Image Scanner Series also features standard TWAIN and ISIS drivers for greater flexibility of scanning applications. In addition, the latest Ricoh TWAIN Driver improves the image data appearance in documents by letting users combine two or four pages of scanned documents to create a single image or divide them into two separate images. The included QuickScan capture software utilizes the ISIS drivers image capture features to convert scanned images from printed pages into usable content that can easily be integrated into applications using TIFF, JPEG, or Bitmap formats.

"The IS760/IS760D Image Scanner Series is a prime example of how Ricoh continuously sets the standard in creating efficient document management solutions that help customers remain productive," said Hede Nonaka, vice president of marketing, Ricoh Corporation. "Since the scanners support standard SCSI-3 and USB 2.0, customers experience easy installation, optimum throughput and high-speed connectivity."

In order to maximize the scanners' functionality, an optional network interface box seamlessly connects the IS760/IS760D Image Scanner Series to users' networks with sophisticated features including Scan-to-E-mail/Folder/Print, and Network TWAIN. In addition, the optional Image Processing Unit expands the scanners' performance by enabling operation of an auto photo/letter function to automatically adjust for text and photos, and saves the file to the appropriate image quality settings. Other functions include dynamic threshold, which automatically alters the contrast so documents are more readable, and select area, which lets users select and set scanning conditions.

The IS760 Image Scanner is available at the suggested retail price of $5,795, and the IS760D Image Scanner is available for $6,795.
