Checker Schuck's Kragen souvenir section: CSK welcomes fans back to Phoenix

National Dragster, Feb 21, 2003

Checker, Schuck's, and Kragen, the official auto parts store of NHRA, is proud to be returning to Firebird Int'l Raceway this season with a two-car nitro Funny Car team that was a consistent contender in 2002, winning four events and 47 rounds. Lead driver Del Worsham spent the entire 2002 season in the top five of the NHRA POWERade points standings and finished third for the second straight year. He earned his seventh berth in the Budweiser Shootout, NHRA's richest race within a race. Teammate Johnny Gray, who finished the 2002 season in the 10th position, has already produced a runner-up effort, at NHRA's season opener in Pomona, to let the other Funny Car racers know that Team CSK is ready to run.

CSK Auto Inc., parent company to more than 1,115 Checker, Schuck's, and Kragen Auto Parts stores in 19 Western states, had a great year, too. CSK President and COO Martin Fraser says it's all about listening to customers.

"What do-it-yourselfers want and deserve is a friendly, knowledgeable person in the store who listens carefully and helps them solve problems. We're delivering this level of customer service every day. But more than that, we've also worked very hard this year to bring in a lot of exciting new merchandise, like power tools, storage units for the garage, and great holiday gift items. And we still carry quality brakes and alternators like Raybestos and Autolite, all at great prices. In our business, when you combine good service with innovative products and low prices, everybody wins," he said.

Speaking of winning, Worsham won the Checker Schuck's Kragen NHRA Nationals last year and is looking to repeat that victory this year before his sponsors, the associates from CSK, who always turn out in big numbers for the company's hometown race in Phoenix. It should be a weekend to remember.
