National Dragster, Jan 30, 2004

DELAWARE, Ohio - Jeg's Automotive Inc. will offer a double-up bonus to the 64 drivers who compete in the Jeg's Allstars race at the fall Chicago national event at Route 66 Raceway. This year celebrates the 20th anniversary of NHRA's Sportsmanonly bonus event.

Racers in the eight NHRA Lucas oil Drag Racing Series categories from each of NHRA's seven geographic regions compete for team and individual honors and a share of the $100,000 Jeg's Allstars purse. The winning division receives $20,000 for taking the overall team title. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car winners earn $7,000, Comp and Super Stock titlists pocket $6,000, and Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street victors receive $4,500. The runners-up in all categories are awarded $2,000.

A competitor who wins a Jeg's Allstars title can earn the bonus by winning in the same class during the national event.

"We are excited to make this enhancement to the Jeg's Allstars event," said Scott Woodruff, director of motorsports marketing and public relations for Jeg's. "Our involvement in this program has been wellreceived by the competitors each year, and NHRA's support has been great. The NHRA Competition Committee recently dropped the CIC Index penalty for Comp racers for the Jeg's Allstars race beginning this year [see Bits, page 9]. Adding that to the new Jeg's Double-Up Bonus program elevates the most prestigious event to a new level."

Jeg's Automotive Inc., headquartered in Delaware, Ohio, is a leading supplier of automotive and auto racing parts and equipment. Jeg Coughlin Sr. founded the company in 1960 in an effort to supply the growing needs of customers throughout the Midwest.
