NHRA National Reunion Registration Available Online

National Dragster, May 7, 2004

Even the nostalgic sport of hot rodding has to move into the computer age. Registration forms for the second annual Holley NHRA National hot Rod Reunion presented by DuPont Automotive Finishes in Bowling Green, Ky., are available online in Adobe portable document format (pdf) at www.nhra.com/museum/2004/nhrr/registration.pdf. To take advantage of early registration discounts, entry forms must be received by June 4.

"Last year, we had a much larger than expected crowd, and we want to accommodate everyone at this year's event," said reunion director Bob Daniels. "Only those who purchase their credentials in advance may attend the Pit Pass Barbecue and receive the goody bag, which includes the dash plaque and the National hot Rod Reunion Annual."

Among the event's Heritage Award Honorees are pioneer aluminum-dragster builder Al Bergler, veteran dragster owners Jim and Alison Lee, legendary racer Art Malone, speed-shop operator Bill Smith of Speedway Motors, and Bob Larivee Sr., creator of the International Show Car Association.

Miss Hurst Golden Shifter Linda Vaughn is the Justice Brothers Car Care Products Reunion Spotlight Award winner.

Produced by The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum, the reunion will include Crane Cams nostalgic drag racing in Top Fuel, Supercharged Gassers, classic Funny Cars, and Super Stockers; a giant street-rod, customs, classics, and muscle-car SofffSeal swap meet for classic-car and racing parts; a special stage show; and a separate amusement park with rides and games.

Fashioned after the annual NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield, Calif., the event features a Cacklefest. The activity involves early style front-engine dragsters push-started and gathered on the dragstrip's starting-line with the engines running.

The reunion will also feature special contests and activities for car clubs. Information, including a full schedule and entry forms, are available through the Parks NHRA Museum. Send inquiries to NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion, P.O. Box 2345, Pomona, CA 91769; e-mail, museum@nhra.com.
