Matco Tools Extends Contract With Schumacher Racing

National Dragster, Jun 4, 2004

Matco Tools has extended its sponsorship contract with Don Schumacher's race team through 2006. The tool company joined Schumacher Racing in 2001 as primary sponsor of the Whit Bazemore-driven Dodge Stratus Funny Car as well as associate sponsor of the U.S. Army Top Fuel dragster piloted by Tony Schumacher. Since then, Matco Tools has become associate sponsor of the Gary Scelzi-driven Oakley Dodge Stratus Funny Car and the U.S. Army Pro Stock Bikes ridden by Angelle Savoie and Antron Brown.

"It's a strong relationship for Matco Tools," said Lynda Banig, Matco Tools' vice president of marketing. "We're looking forward to extending the good relationship that we've had for several years with Schumacher Racing into 2005 and 2006. This team and driver Whit Bazemore, with whom we've enjoyed an even longer association, are an important part of our brand-building program, and we're pleased with the extension."

Added Matco Tools Vice President-Sales Tim Gilmoro, "Our relationship with Schumacher Racing is incredible to our distributors. It helps promote our brand, which helps distributors sell tools. It also helps to recruit new franchisees."
