Black, Parks, Walker are top victors at Wabash Valley

WABASH VALLEY DRAGWAY, Terre Haute, Ind. (Sept. 10-11) In a special Stock/Super Stock race on Friday night, Danny Black drove his '78 Nova to a 7.769 (7.17 dial) to beat Mike McDonald's 7.169 (7.17) from his '72 Nova. Kevin Wells was the semifinalist with his '70 Chevelle.

On Saturday, Roger Parks took the Super Pro win with a 5.189 (5.18) from his '98 dragster to trailer Randy Barbee's 6.647 (6.59) from his '85 S-IO. Gary Abernathy was the lone semifinalist in his '79 Camaro. Chad Isley drove his '66 Nova to a 6.475 (6.46) for the Pro win after Bill Austin and his '65 Satellite broke out with a 7.939 (7.95). Jeff Vaughn drove his '72 Nova to a semifinal finish.

Neal Walker visited the winner's circle for the first time this year by driving his '75 Nova to a 9.267 (9.19) for the Sportsman win over Bill McCarty's 9.082 (8.95) from his '89 Dakota. Chad Eaton and Larry Seals were semifinalists. In High School, Justin Lourash ran 9.263 (9.22) in his '86 Mustang to beat the 8.110 (8.04) from Robert Peffley's '67 Valiant.

Melissa Cord drove her '97 Camaro to a 9.417 (9.35) for the Novice Street win over Bill Kovasic's 12.203 (12.14) from his '99 S-10. Isley took his second win of the night by riding his '77 Honda to a 8.203 (8.15) for Bike honors when Robert Arthurs redlighted on his '92 Kawasaki.

Jordan Galloway drove her Jr. Dragster to a 9.694 (9.67) for the win when Alex Caveney red-lighted away a chance at the title. Jordan Eaker ran 7.967 (7.92) for the Jr. Dragster Consolation win over Steven Byrley Jr.'s 8.562 (8.52). - Pam Lobb
