TRANSCONTINENTAL reports a 10 per cent net income growth for the first quarter of 2003, crediting its performance to acquisitions made in 2002. The company made reference to the integration of the newspapers acquired in the Atlantic Provinces and Saskatchewan, which amounted to the largest transaction in Transcontinental's history. The company is currently restructuring under what it calls its Horizon 2005 business project. Transcon also noted that the rising Canadian dollar lead to a weakening in its printing and media sectors.
