Synthetic on-demand: www.yupo.com, www.tekra.com

Print Action, Apr 2003

Yupo Corporation America and Tekra Corporation has launched a synthetic substrate for HP Indigo presses. The new paper, Dura-Go YUPO, is designed for POP graphics, outdoor banners, safety and warning tags, identification cards, and other on-demand applications. According to the companies, printers seeking short-run ease and variable data print output can achieve colourful, eye-catching and high-quality graphics with this new digital synthetic paper, which allows the toner to sit on Dura-Go YUPO.

The new digital grade is a bright white synthetic paper with an ultra-smooth, high-gloss surface. Dura-Go YUPO is manufactured by adding Tekra's proprietary formulation to base YUPO stock. Available in basis weights of both 68-lb text coated one side and 74-lb cover coated one side or two sides, Dura-Go YUPO carries a guarantee of the printability of these products optimized for the HP Indigo presses for a period of one year. Dura-Go YUPO can be ordered in 12-inch by 18-inch sheets or 12.5-inch rolls. Dura-Go YUPO is specifically engineered to perform with HP Indigo's 1000, 2000, and 3000 presses, but is yet to be certified by R.I.T.
