Daramic has introduced Artisyn technology to its line of substrates. Artisyn is an uncoated, single layer micro-porous plastic that produces a highly-durable alternative to synthetic papers. According to Daramic, Artisyn will replace other high-cost and hard-to-find synthetic papers with thermal stability and bond strength that are unmatched in the market today.
Designed for the digital graphic arts industry, Artisyn has certifications on HP Indigo and Xeikon print engines. Artisyn has a typical 0.5 per cent shrinkage on a HP 8000 laser printer. Artisyn is made from a formulation that includes Ultrahigh Polyethylene, which allows it to go where paper cannot, according to the company. Artisyn II is being launched into the loyalty card market as a core substrate that can be thermally laminated.
