THE THOMSON CORPORATION, once a very traditional media player in newspapers, continues its movement into the world of providing high-tech information delivery. Last month, the Toronto-based company made a cash offer to acquire Elite Information Group Inc. Elite provides integrated practice and financial management systems for professional service firms worldwide, including electronic billing services.
It built its reputation providing billing systems for the legal industry. The agreement is subject to approval, although Elite's board of directors endorsed the deal.
