CGFNS BEGINS POSTING ROSTER LISTS FOR QUALIFYING EXAM ONLINE

The Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) is now posting the roster lists for the Qualifying Exam on the CGFNS web site, www.cgfns.org. A few weeks before an exam, applicants will be able to log onto the CGFNS web site and look up whether they are fostered for that particular exam.

Roster lists will be divided by test center (location), and then applicants can look up their CGFNS ID Number on the roster list of the center they chose on their application. Applicants indicate first and second choice of exam location on their Certification Program applications, so if they do not find their CGFNS ID Number listed on the roster list of their first choice of location, they should check the roster list of their second choice.

The roster list includes the address of the exam center and the time that registration for the exam begins. , Applicants should remember to bring their admission permit and at least one form of official, government-issued photo identification (such as a passport).

CGFNS LAUNCHES NEW AUTOMATED VOICE RESPONSE SYSTEM

The Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) unveiled a new, improved version of its Automated Voice Response System in April 2003! The new system is integrated with the CGFNS website application system to bring applicants increased access to the status of. their application and the most current information possible.

Applicants can call the system 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from any location around the world. Users will need to enter their CGFNS ID number and date of birth to access their information.

The new Automated Voice Response System allows applicants access to the same, in-depth information about their file as the website application system, which enables them to check the status of their application, find out whether they have been rostered for a particular exam, discover what documents have arrived and check their account balance. Applicants can check the status of their application(s) for any of CGFNS' services and programs, such as the Certification Program, Credentials Evaluation Service, VisaScreen Program, and Credentials Verification Service for New York State.

CGFNS POSTPONES OPENING BEIJING EXAM CENTER UNTIL NOVEMBER

The Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools(CGFNS) has decided to postpone opening its Beijing exam center for the CGFNS Qualifying Exam due to concerns over the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) situation in China.

After consulting with our Chinese test administrators and reviewing the advisories from the Center for Disease Control and the World Health Organization, the Commission believes that the exam needs to be rescheduled for the welfare of CGFNS Test Center Staff and applicants. CGFNS salutes the courage of healthcare professionals providing care during these trying times.

The opening of the Beijing test site will be rescheduled from July to the November 12, 2003 administration of the Qualifying Exam. Applicants who requested the Beijing exam center in July will be notified of their alternative options.

The new exam center will be open for the November 12, 2003 exam and all exams thereafter. The exam center number for the Beijing location is 801. Applicants who are interested in taking the November Qualifying Exam in Beijing, or any exam thereafter, need to indicate the exam center number 801 as their choice of exam center on their Certification Program application.

CGFNS OPENS NEW EXAM CENTER IN DELHI, INDIA

The Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) is establishing a test center to conduct its Qualifying Exam for nurses in Delhi, India. This center will be in addition to the organization's current test centers in India, located in Bangalore and Cochin. The first Qualifying Exam to be administered in Delhi will be the November 12, 2003 exam.

CGFNS also announced that it is currently accepting applications for a special offering of the Qualifying Exam to be held on September 10, 2003 in Bangalore (center number 850) and Cochin (center number 851), but not in Delhi. This special offering is being made in response to numerous requests for an additional opportunity to sit for the exam. The deadline for submission for the September 10th exam is June 11, 2003.

CGFNS administers its Qualifying Exam three times each year for nurses educated outside the United States who wish to practice nursing in the U.S. The exams are offered at over 40 locations worldwide in March, July and November. CGFNS received approval from the Indian Government to administer its exam in India in 2001. The first exam in India was given at Bangalore on March 13, 2002.

Applicants wishing to sit for the November 12, 2003 Qualifying Exam in Delhi should designate the Delhi center number 852 on their Certification Program application.
