Community Health Centers in the state of Alabama are becoming a part of the Bureau of Primary Health Care's aggressive and innovative approach to improving the lives and providing access to patients living in disparity with a chronic disease.
February 12-15, 2004, Alabama CHC "teams" came together in Atlanta, Ga., for a regional Summit. During that week, health professionals were engaged in education in current guidelines for Diabetes and prevention and screening in Cancer, Cardiovascular issues as well as learning about Depression screening as an important part of the clinical visit of patients presenting with chronic diseases. They were also coached and trained in computer skills pertaining to PECS, or Patient Electronic Care System used to collect (he data these health organizations collect on a daily basis.
Professionals and Scholars were brought in to demonstrate Best Practices and provide information regarding resources.
Providers and nurses were given the opportunity to receive continuing educational credit as well, free of charge to them for attending sessions at the conference.
CEO's of Community Health Centers came together to learn how to recruit and retain quality staff.
Overall, it was again, a demonstration of the dedication of our health professionals here in Alabama to serve the residents of our great state providing care to everyone regardless of financial status. Everyone deserves quality health care.
