* A school chapter delegate is the voting representative of a school chapter.

* A school chapter must be a constituent of the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA) to be a constituent of the Alabama Association of Nursing Students (AANS).

* In order to be an NSNA constituent, a school chapter must have at least 10 NSNA members and a constituency application on file with the NSNA.

* Delegates of a school chapter are usually school chapter officers, but not always.

* Delegates must be NSNA members in good standing. A member in good standing is defined as a NSNA member with proof of membership card.

* Delegates represent not only themselves, but their school chapter members, too.

* In the AANS House of Delegates (HOD) anyone is welcome.

* The only voting members of the HOD are school chapter delegates.

* Delegates are the only people allowed to vote on business of the HOD. Business can include, but is not limited to bylaw changes, resolutions, and elections.

* It is VITAL that school chapter delegates meet and know the candidates running for the AANS executive board at the annual convention as they will be the only AANS members allowed to vote on the new executive board.

* The number of delegates from each school chapter is determined by their number of NSNA members.

* 10 NSNA members = 1 AANS delegate

* 20 NSNA members = 2 AANS delegates

* 30 NSNA members = 3 AANS delegates

* 100 NSNA members = 10 AANS delegates

* School chapter delegates are required to be in attendance at the annual House of Delegates, as this is the only time business of the AANS can be addressed for formal voting purposes.
