Victory Now!

Word Among Us, Nov 2004 by Mindling, Fr Joseph

Finally, the Book of Revelation can both challenge and console us when we think about our own death. For it is then, when we have passed from earth to heaven, that we will finally be united with the celestial chorus and sing the song that no one can learn "except the hundred forty-four thousand who have been redeemed from the earth" (Revelation 14:3).

All of these ways of looking at Revelation show us that this book in not simply a "curious" piece of writing that has to be "decoded." Far from it, Revelation is an inspired piece of writing in which God speaks to our hearts and raises our hopes and expectations. Ultimately, we know that we have made progress when reading this book moves us to cry out, in union with all the heavenly hosts, "Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!"
