Dues Deductibility

South Carolina Nurse, The, Apr-Jun 2003

In response to a law passed by the U.S. Congress, we are required to inform you in advance that a portion of your dues are used for lobbying and influencing legislation and regulations for the year 2002.

The portion of your ANA dues used is 23.42% for a figure of $28.10 of your $120.00 full pay dues. The portion of your SCNA/DNA dues used is 4.9% for a figure of $6.37 of the $130 (SCNA portion is $112/DNA portion is $18).

None of the total $34.47 of your total dues ($250) is tax deductible due to its use for lobbying.

Please check with your accountant as to whether in your individual case any of your SCNA dues fee is deductible for business/professional expenses at this varies widely. This information is published each year in the South Carolina Nurse or you can call 803-252-4781.

Thank you for your continued support of your profession through your professional organization!
