Executive Director's Report

South Carolina Nurse, The, Apr-Jun 2003 by Thompson, Judith Curfman

Let me be among the first to wish you a Happy Nurses Week, 2003! This wish brings with it a deep thank you for all of you who continue to be a part of the huge professional world that is encompassed by the simple word "NURSE." You are everywhere and in just about every conceivable setting providing your skills and expertise to what I hope is a world that is beginning to recognize just how impoverished our lives would be without you.

Thank you always seems somehow so little to offer to those who do so much for each life that is enriched by your presence, but THANK YOU!

Today as I began to try to write this article, I turned on the computer to see what was in the email before starting to write. As good fortune would have it a good friend, Frances Edwards, a nurse leader from Tennessee, had sent me a wonderful small "think piece" . . . it is too good not to share with all of you.

Remember - Author Unknown

*Remember that your presence is a present to the world.

*Remember that you are a unique and unrepeatable creation.

*Remember that your life can be what you want it to be.

*Remember to take the days just one at a time.

*Remember to count your blessings, not your troubles.

*Remember that you'll make it through whatever comes along.

*Remember that most of the answers you need are within you.

*Remember those dreams waiting to be realized.

*Remember that decisions are too important to leave to chance.

*Remember to always reach for the best that is within you.

*Remember that nothing wastes more energy than worry.

*Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.

*Remember that the longer you carry a grudge, the heavier it gets.

*Remember not to take things too seriously.

*Remember to laugh.

*Remember that a little love goes a long way . . . and a lot goes forever.

*Remember that happiness is more often found in giving than getting.

*Remember that life's treasures are people, not things.

May Nurses Week 2003, May 6-12, 2003 and every day and every week find you doing that which brings to you the most joy and satisfaction . . . thank you!
