WNBA MEDIA

I just got done watching the Phoenix-Connecticut WNBA season-opener on ABC. I think the television coverage the league receives is extremely important for its continued growth. I believe the league is as exciting as it ever has been. I watched this game after seeing it listed in the sports calendar of our local newspaper. Could you please tell me when more games are going to be televised this year?

Editor: Ask and you shall receive. Here's a listing of remaining regular season WNBA games to be broadcast this season.

Thursday, Sept. 9: Detroit at Los Angeles, ESPN2

Sunday, Sept. 12: Seattle at Connecticut, ESPN2

Sunday, Sept. 12: Houston at Washington, Oxygen

Sunday, Sept. 12: Sacramento at Los Angeles, ABC

Thursday, Sept. 16: Sacramento at Houston, ESPN2

Sunday, Sept. 19: Charlotte at Detroit, ESPN2

Sunday, Sept. 19: Indiana at Connecticut, Oxygen

My family listens to Charlotte Sting games on the local radio station here. We've been able to get to one game in person this year, but have heard quite a few on the radio. I was wondering if the other teams in the league have radio broadcasts such as the ones we have here in Charlotte?

Andy Lampkin

Charlotte, N.C.

DETROIT CHAMPIONSHIP CITY

Is what has been happening here in Detroit on the pro basketball front unbelievable or what? I'm a season ticket holder for both the Shock and the Pistons. I still can't get over the fact both teams have won world championships in the last year. Maybe it has something to do with Bill Laimbeer being the coach of the Shock-who knows? I do know both organizations play great team-oriented basketball. And that's exactly what it takes to bring home the top prize.

MORE DRILLS

I would like to see more drills featured in the magazine. I coach a junior high school team in Idaho and am constantly looking for fresh ideas to present to the players.

Editor: In upcoming issues, readers will notice an increase in instructional, fitness and nutritional articles. This month's issue features noted neuromuscular trainer Sam Visnic demonstrating the reverse cable chop exercise. Southwest Missouri State head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson also has some free throw tips in this issue (Page 28).

THINKING ABOUT IT

We're thinking of starting a local AAU team here in town in Nebraska. Could you lend any insight into how we might go about doing that and where we can find tournaments to play in?

Craig Amara

Via e-mail

Editor: Visit the AAU website at www.aausports.org and click on the women's basketball link under sports on the left side of the page. There you will find all of the information you are looking for. Best of luck with the new team.

NCAA Stats

Where can I find updated NCAA women's statistics throughout the collegiate season?

Stacey Clarke

Via e-mail

Editor: Stacey, it's as easy as heading to the NCAA website at www.ncaa.org and clicking on the statistics icon at the top of the page. You will then be directed to which sport you would like stats for. Keep following the instructions and you will find a smorgasbord of college numbers for all three NCAA divisions.

Nothing To Watch

I have mixed feelings on the current state of the WNBA. On one hand, the league must be commended for its longevity. Being around for eight years is nothing to sneeze at, especially when there are so many other entertainment options out there in this day and age. My only gripe is that the league has not grown larger. I used to be a frequent attendee of Miami Sol games. Now, the state of Florida is left with nothing. I just hope this trend doesn't continue with teams moving or folding. At least I still can watch on TV.
