Burt Returns to Washington

Women's Basketball, Oct 2004

University of Washington guard Kayla Burt, who has been sidelined since Jan., 2003 after suffering cardiac arrest, has rejoined the team.

Burt, a native of Arlington, Wash., played 1 ½ seasons with the Huskies before suffering a cardiac arrest episode on New Year's Eve 2002 as the result of what was thought to be Long QT Syndrome (further tests ruled out that ailment).

A defibrillator was implanted in her chest in Jan. 2003.

Burt last played in an NCAA game on Dec. 28, 2002.

As a sophomore, Burt led the Pac-10 in three-point shooting percentage (.538) during the 2002-2003 season.
