How Paper Is Made

Click, Feb 2005

1. Most paper is made from trees.

2. The logs are chopped into small chips.

3. The wood chips are cooked with water and chemicals to make a thick, wet porridge called pulp.

4. The pulp is sprayed onto a wire screen. Water drains from the pulp.

5. Heavy rollers press out more water and heat the pulp until it's dry.

6. The finished paper can be used to make books, kites, paper dolls, and even your copy of Click.
