Now, in addition to RADIUS, 802. 1x, SSH and SSL for security, the upgraded switch offers complete Layer 2/3/4 switching with traffic prioritization, including DSCP-based COS and TCP/UDP port-based COS, as well as port and protocol-based VLANs.

Features that will be released in the future include SNMPv3, Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (802.1s) that allows single spanning tree within VLANs, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol and SSHv2.
"The TigerSwitch SMC8624T was designed to excel in the most demanding networks, and now it's even more powerful," said SMC Product Marketing Manager Jennifer Wu.
"We're pleased to bring to market the improved SMC8624T with Broadcom's XGS switching solution at the core. We added lots of valuable features, but didn't add to the price."
