StorageNet 3300 Offered for SANs

Enterprise Networks & Servers,  Jan 2004

StorageTek and Crossroads Systems have released the StorageNet 3300 (SN3300) Fibre Channel Router designed to bring SCSI tape libraries into the storage area network (SAN).

"The SN3300 complements our modular, enterprise-class SN3400, and extends our available tape connectivity solutions across our entire L-Series, tape library family. The SN3300 provides additional management capability to StorageTek's Information Lifecycle Management strategy,"said Pierre Cousin, StorageTek vice president and general manager, Online Solutions. "Our customers want manageable, high performance solutions for data protection and business continuance. With the SN3300, customers gain tremendous manageability and insight into how tapebased storage can be allocated and efficiently utilized."

"Continuing a long-standing relationship between our two companies, the launch of the SN3300 delivers the benefits of Crossroads fifth generation products to StorageTek's tape library customers," said Rob Sims, president and chief executive officer, Crossroads Systems. "StorageTek customers will benefit from our industry leading interoperability for networked storage solutions featuring high scalability and enterprise performance."

The SN3300 gives mid-range tape libraries access to 2 gigabit fibre channel SANs for backup and restore or disaster recovery solutions. With the SN3300, StorageTek tape libraries can be shared among multiple servers, partitioned for secure access by authorized systems, or logically divided into separate pools of storage.
