NetIQ Providing Modules for MOM

Enterprise Networks & Servers, Apr 2004

NetIQ Corp. used the Microsoft Management Summit to announce the NetIQ Extended Management Pack (XMP) Modules v1.5 for Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM). With more than 20 modules available, NetIQ provides a broad suite of modules to extend MOM to enhance security and availability of non-Microsoft applications and hardware.

NetIQ XMP modules allow administrators using MOM to monitor the performance and availability of non-Microsoft applications, server hardware, Windows NT-based operating systems and applications, while also identifying and responding to Windows-based security incidents. Since NetIQ XMP modules are based on native MOM technologies, they offer tight integration between MOM and the supported third-party software.

NetIQ XMP modules expand MOM support to include the following.

Non-Microsoft applications: Lotus Domino and Oracle RDBMS.

IBM and Dell servers: Dell Open-Manage, IBM Director.

Security: Microsoft Windows-based security monitoring, McAfee VirusScan, Symantec AntiVirus, Trend Micro Anti-Virus.

Framework integration: HP OpenView, Tivoli Enterprise, Micromuse Netcool/ OMNIbus.

Windows NT 4-based servers and applications: Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator, IIS, Microsoft Message Queue Server, Microsoft Systems Management Server, Microsoft Transaction Server, Windows NT 4 Server, Exchange, Site Server, SNA Server, SQL Server.

Reporting and analysis: Provides pre-built templates spanning both native-MOM and NetIQ XMP generated data for improved insight into ongoing operations and capacity.
