Unisys and Comcast Expand Relationship

Enterprise Networks & Servers, Oct 2004

Unisys Corp. will manage approximately two-thirds of all U.S. mailed remittance payments for Comcast Cable, the largest cable company in the United States. The new contract, estimated at approximately $25 million over four and a half years, will replace the existing business process outsourcing agreement between Unisys and Comcast.

Unisys will now double the original volume of Comcast remittance payments it has processed from its Pennsylvania service center since 2001 and will open a second facility in Washington to handle Comcast's customer payments originating in the Western United States.

As part of the new contract, Unisys will create an online archive containing images of all Comcast's mailed remittance paymerits and related correspondence, allowing Comcast staff to access customer data in real-time when addressing customer inquiries. The system will also provide workflow management tools that allow Comcast to establish, manage and monitor workgroups handling payment inquires at its call centers.

"Unisys has been at the forefront of developing payment operations for many industries globally," said Glenn James, president, Unisys Global Communications and Media.

"The work we have done with Comcast exemplifies how efficient payment operations can significantly reduce the day-to-day costs of doing business and improve cash flow while steadily improving customer service."
