Solsoft Platform to Manage CipherOptics Equipment

Enterprise Networks & Servers, Jan 2005

Solsoft, a provider of network security policy management solutions, and CipherOptics, an innovator of gigabit-speed IPSec appliances, have announced that CipherOptics will develop device drivers for Solsoft's Policy Server in order to automate and simplify the management of CipherOptics' IPSec appliances.

CipherOptics will use the Solsoft Device SDK to build a driver for Solsoft's scalable management solution. In addition to its firewall management capabilities, Solsoft Policy Server enables IT organizations to design, deploy and audit both hub-and-spoke and complex fully meshed VPN environments spanning hundreds of devices in a multi-vendor enterprise network. All of this can be done via dragand-drop actions.

"In our strategy to manage complex and large VPN networks, we are adding CipherOptics' high-speed IPSec appliances to our list of supported best-in-class vendor devices," said Solsoft CEO Gilles Samoun. "Partnering with CipherOptics gives our government, enterprise and service provider customers a greater choice of VPN solutions that can be managed using Solsoft's open platform."

"The name of the game is end-to-end management in heterogeneous environments," said Ron Willis, CEO of CipherOptics. "Our partnership with Solsoft is a win-win solution for our customers because it combines high performance data protection with an open systems approach to network security and policy management."

Solsoft Policy Server provides centralized management of leading firewalls, routers, switches and VPN equipment from market leaders such as Cisco, Juniper, Check Point, Nortel, Symantec, and Linux-based vendors.

The solution offers role-based administration to ensure separation of duty and includes visualization and workflow features that enable network and security teams to collaborate more effectively. The entire process is automated for easy creation, deployment, storage and audit of consistent security policies across large and complex networks.
