Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedUnisys announces maximum data integrity for multi-host environments
Enterprise Networks & Servers, May 2005
Unisys has released the eXtended Processor Complex - Locking (XPC-L), a database record locking innovation for multi-host clustered mainframe environments to protect the integrity of data being updated by various system managers across a multi-host ClearPath environment.
This new product replaces the existing eXtended Processing Complex (XPC) for the Unisys ClearPath Dorado line of servers.
High performance data caching previously handled by XPC is now provided by a multi-path command queuing architecture and modern, high-performance storage subsystems. This new multi-host clustering provides maximum transaction processing capacity and high availability with up to four Unisys Dorado mainframe OS2200 host systems accessing a single OS2200 database.

XPC-L allows up to 128 processors to be configured to provide maximum transaction processing capacity and the highest levels of availability. XPC-L has more than double the lock processing capacity of its predecessor. High performance fiber interfaces provide low-latency connections between OS2200 hosts and XPC-L servers, significantly improving locking times.
In addition to increased capacity, fully redundant XPC-L lock engines can be configured to provide improved availability that allows these servers to provide continuous operation in the event of the loss of a lock engine. Software updates, if required, can be installed on each of the XPC-L systems independently, without operation interruption - a common problem in high performance mainframe environments.
XPC-L is completely compatible with the current XPC product, requiring no change to existing customer application software. XPC-L is currently available for Unisys ClearPath Dorado Platforms, and can be adapted to comply with various other computing environments.
