Interstar XMediusFAX does fax over IP without fax board

Enterprise Networks & Servers, Sep 2005

Interstar Technologies, a developer of enterprise Internet Protocol (IP) fax solutions, has been certified by 3Com Corp. as a "3Com Approved" member of its Voice Solution Provider Program (VSPP). This certification follows extensive testing to ensure that Interstar solutions are interoperable with 3Com enterprise IP telephony products and services.

3Com tested and approved Interstar's XMediusFAX server product with the 3Com VCX IP telephony module and 3Com/AudioCodes' Mediant Digital and MP Analog VoIP gateways.

XMediusFAX was selected for the VSPP program based on its T.38 Fax over IP (FoIP) technology, which is the industry's first real-time IP fax solution that does not require use of a fax board. The solution enables users to have their faxes share a common inbox with e-mail and voicemail.

About a decade ago, VoIP was introduced as a technology that would enable businesses to reap significant cost savings, while offering more features and capabilities, such as improved mobility. While VoIP has already accomplished that to a large degree, faxing in today's VoIP-enabled organizations still remains a legacy technology requiring POTS phone lines and extra hardware.

Interstar's XMediusFAX is the world's first boardless T.38 Fax Over IP solution. For more information, e-mail info@interstarinc.com or see faxserver. com.
