Entergy pitches in for disaster relief

Westchester County Business Journal, May 21, 2007

Entergy Nuclear Northeast is asking the Westchester business community to match the company's $20,000 Challenge Grant to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. The funds raised will assist with disaster relief services nationwide.

"To have the support of Entergy - both nationally and locally - is vitally important to the Red Cross, and I'd like to publicly thank them for their leadership and concern for the community, and their contributions," said F. Dianne Young, chapter chairwoman of the American Red Cross in Westchester County. "The combined cost of all Red Cross disaster relief for the recent flooding in New York state is over a million dollars."

The American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund enables local disaster stricken areas to tap into the resources of the entire American Red Cross with manpower and supplies such as those needed in Mamaroneck and other flooded communities.

Ninety Red Cross disaster response workers, including 46 from Westchester. helped local flood victims. A total of 383 clients have been served.

All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money. Financial donations to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund enable the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to victims of disaster. Donors may designate their donations to a specific disaster. Call 800-REDCROSS or 800-257-7575 (Spanish).

Contributions to the Disaster Relief Fund may be sent to the Westchester American Red Cross chapter, Attention: Rick Cacciato at 106 North Broadway, White Plains, NY 10603, or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013. Internet users can make a secure online contribution by visiting www.redcross.org.
