Salt Lake law firm sold to Washington, D.C. company specializing in litigation
Enterprise, The, Oct 03, 2005
Howrey LLP, a Washington, D.C.-based law firm, has acquired Salt Lake City-based Bendinger, Crockett, Peterson, Greenwood & Casey PC.
"The Bendinger firm is a first class litigation shop. We've known them for years, we've worked with them and been opposed to them. They are tough and successful. This is a great fit for Howrey and our strategy to maintain and enhance our position as one of the premier litigation and trial firms worldwide' " said Howrey's chairman and CEO Bob Ruyak.
Bendinger, Crockett, Peterson, Greenwood & Casey was founded 30 years ago. The 19-lawyer firm has expertise on both the plaintiff and defense sides of litigation. Beginning in the 1970s with plaintiff antitrust work, it currently takes on significant defense work. During the years, it has developed a national practice in securities litigation in addition to antitrust and commercial litigation. Currently, the firm is involved in high profile national securities matters.
"For 30 years, we've had first-hand experience with Howrey. We are now in the enviable position of needing to ally ourselves with a national litigation firm, one with offices in major metropolitan areas, in order to help us represent our securities clients. We decided to go with the best, and that's Howrey," said Gary Bendinger.
Howrey was recently named to the American Lawyer's A-List of the nation's top 20 law firms for the second year in a row and the National Law Journal's 2005 Defense Hot List.
Founded in 1956, Howrey LLP is an international law firm with more than 525 attorneys and more than 50 economic, financial and regulatory consultants. Howrey's affiliates, CapAnalysis Group and Maxiam (intellectual asset management specialists) team with Howrey attorneys as a strategic business resource.
