Mountain States Supply Inc., a Salt Lake City wholesaler of plumbing, irrigation and water-works merchandise, is in the process of expanding, as is its sister company, Salt Lake City-based Contractors HVAC Supply.

Presently doing business in approximately 25,000 square feet at 184 W. 3300 S., Mountain States Supply Inc. has broken ground for a 52,000 square foot structure on 15 acres at 8152 S. Welby Park Dr., West Jordan, that it will share equally with Contractors HVAC Supply when the building is completed in early 2009. Mountain States Supply will retain its Salt Lake City location and Contractors HVAC Supply will not only retain its Salt Lake City location at 3145 S. Washington St., but expand it by 30,000 square feet, said Ron Ford, who will act as general manager of the new West Jordan facility. Expansion of the Washington Street facility is under way and should be complete by July 1.

In addition, Mountain States Supply has purchased property on Sugar Lane in Layton where it will build an expanded store, Ford said. The existing 18,000 square foot Layton facility is located at 1435 W Hill Field Road; the new location will measure approximately 30,000 square feet. Ford said it should be complete in roughly six months.

Mountain States Supply also operates a facility in Pleasant View that spans approximately 18,000 square feet. Ford said the firm has tentative plans to build a larger store there as well, probably about the same size as the new Layton facility.

Robinson Brothers Construction is acting as general contractor for the West Jordan building and the expansion of Contractors HVAC Supply building in Salt Lake City, Ford said. Both projects were designed by Pasker Gould Ames & Weaver.
