Storatge Computer's OmniRAID SuperServer used by MCI
New Hampshire Business Review, Apr 10, 1998
Addressing the challenge of supporting and managing multiple, dissimilar data networks, Nashua-based Storage Computer Corp., announced that their OmniRAID SuperServer is providing the integral hardware/software storage technologies used within MCI's Advanced Trouble Analysis Center.
Providing troubleshooting services and network management for their customers, MCI's ATAC consists of a suite of applications that support diverse network platforms, building an environment for cooperative network management between different data platform support organizations.
Key to MCI's product and technical support system was the OmniRAID SuperServer's ability to allow multiple dissimilar hosts to access the same physical data. MCI will also be utilizing Storage Computer's unique mirroring capabilities with their OmniForce product. Taking selected data sets from a primary set and copying them to a secondary remote site, MCI's data configuration will be safeguarded to withstand failures caused by natural or man-made disasters.
"Having a disaster recovery plan in place for our customer's mission-critical data, OmniForce will allow us the security of remotely viewing and mirroring the entire data structures at all times, ensuring that data is safe at each site," explains Jim Parkhurst, senior staff engineer for MCI's Product & Technical Support. "Through Storage Computer's technology for allowing multiple hosts to access the same physical data set, we can effectively monitor and analyze systems operations, note disruptions and insure that trouble-shooting and problem solutions are quickly dispatched."
"MCI can allow any combination of logical data sets to be remotely mirrored and to change the mirroring and fault-tolerant characteristics without any physical changes," explains Greg Scorziello, senior v.p. of worldwide sales and marketing for Storage Computer. "The ability to mirror core business-critical data without tying up costly CPU resources enables companies to maximize application performance and, in turn, impact business performance and competitiveness."
