Intec, CCS set to offer.Net education

Journal of Business, Jan 15, 2004

The Inland Northwest Technology Education Center (Intec) says it has formed a partnership with Community Colleges of Spokane and a Seattle-based training company to begin offering Microsoft Net training here.

Under the agreement, Intec will buy about $6,700 worth of computer hardware for the training and also will provide $1,000 worth of marketing and $ 7,300 in scholarships to students, who largely will be information-technology professionals who are seeking continuing education. The classes will be taught at Spokane Community College by instructors from Netdesk Corp., of Seattle.

"This is a real win for our region," says Intec CEO Lewis Rumpler. "Bringing Microsoft Gold Certified Partner training to Spokane will benefit us greatly in the long run and support the competitiveness of our local software industry."

Microsoft Net is a set of next-generation software technologies intended to connect computer systems and devices via the Internet, enabling people to get information and control devices remotely.

Initially, the agreement calls for Netdesk to offer classes in programming with Visual Basic.Net, developing Web applications with VS.Net, programming with ADO.Net, and other related topics. The non-credit classes will begin in March, and generally will be two to five days in length. The cost will be $450 per day, but scholarships will be available through Intec.
