Itron Inc. lands contract with Seattle City Light

Journal of Business, Jan 24, 2008

Itron Inc., the big Liberty Lake-based maker of automated utility metering technology, says it has landed a contract with Seattle City Light, which Itron says is one of the nation's largest public utilities.

Under the agreement, Seattle City Light will use Itron's meter-data management software to improve the billing process for its largest commercial and industrial customers, Itron says.

According to Itron's Web site, meter-data management software manages data from different collections systems and provides data to billing and analytical systems.

Itron will integrate its meter-data management system - and also its MV-PBS system, which its Web site says processes complex interval meter data, rate schedules, and regulatory and contract requirements for customers - with Seattle City Light's current customer information system.

Also included in the contract is Itron's customer-care application, which provides a utility's customers with Web access to near real-time meter and bill data to manage their operations.

Seattle City Light serves roughly. 380,000 customers in Seattle and parts of its surrounding metropolitan area, its Web site says.
