Sustainable procurement will be the theme of the mid-year development event organised by the Association of University Procurement Officers (AUPO).

Senior-level speakers from organisations across the UK will lead a series of interactive workshops following an opening presentation from AUPO council member Alex McFarlane. He will explore the challenges and opportunities offered by sustainable procurement.

Other topics include the drivers of sustainable procurement in higher education, its impact on purchasing and risk management, the benefits of buying recycled materials and "greening your ICT procurement". Delegates can also take part in a workshop about diversifying the supply chain.

Jenny Bushrod, chair of AUPO, will give the closing address.
