New post for PwC procurement head

Supply Management, Apr 24, 2008

PricewaterhouseCoopers' (PwC) head of procurement is to take up a new role in the company.

Steve Sherwood, the professional services firm's procurement chief, is to become director of UK infrastructure from July, following the retirement of Frank Young.

"I'm really excited about it, with a little bit of trepidation as I am taking over from someone with big shoes to fill," he told SM.

The promotion will see Sherwood move from looking after a team of 15 to 200 employees, and a further 450 supplier staff. He will also be responsible for overseeing all of PwC's offices and buildings.

And he is confident his purchasing skills will transfer to the new role. "Perhaps some people in procurement don't take their opportunities seriously. If they are in a senior role, they should embrace the opportunity to be part of the leadership committee."

The firm is currently recruiting for a new head of procurement.
