Rutgers Steps To the Table
NJBIZ, Mar 12, 2007
As the Atlantic City casino industry booms with expanding gambling halls and new casinos on the drawing board, Rutgers University announced last week the opening of its Center for Gambling Studies to study the field's human and economic impact.
"Gambling is here to stay," said Lia Nower, the center's director and an association professor of social work at Rutgers. "People have done it forever, and they'll continue to do it. Our task is to make sure we maximize the entertainment value and economic benefits while minimizing the potential harm to those who don't know when to stop."
