Rutgers University said last week that an unnamed graduate has donated $13 million to the school, making it the largest private donation in Rutgers history.
Some $10 million of the anonymous donation will be used to erect a building for the Rutgers Business School in Newark and New Brunswick, on the school's Livingston campus in Piscataway With the rest of the money, Rutgers will create the Bennett L. Smith Endowed Chair in Business and Natural Resources. The school plans to hire a faculty member for the chair who is versed in business, economics, natural resources and the environment.
Rutgers is on a donation roll. Earlier this month, the school reported it brought in a record $12 1 million in private donations for the fiscal year ended June 30, an increase of 8.5 percent from the $111.5 million raised during the prior year. - Thomas Gaudio
