Accounting

Accounting firm Amper, Politziner & Mattia has named Michael Mattia as its partner in charge of marketing. A 20-year marketing veteran, Mattia is responsible for new service line and product development, corporate communications, and new business development, among other functions. He serves as Amper's practice development committee representative in Baker Tilly International, a worldwide affiliation of accounting firms. Mattia is an active member in his community, and currently is on the boards of trustees of the Old Barracks Museum, the Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce and Family Guidance Center. He is a graduate of Lehigh University.

Jay Lindenberg was named director in Amper, Politziner & Mattia's bankruptcy and restructuring practice. Lindenberg has more than 25 years of public accounting experience, with the last 16 years concentrated in the areas of bankruptcy, turnaround and forensic accounting services. He represents debtors, unsecured creditors, secured creditors and trustees in both bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court restructurings. A certified public accountant, Lindenberg is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association, among other professional groups.

Banking

Valley National Bank, the wholly owned subsidiary of Valley National Bancorp, has appointed Robert E. Farrell as chief credit officer. He will report to Gerald H. Lipkin, the banks chairman, president and chief executive officer. Farrell's areas of responsibility include the bank's credit policies, underwriting guidelines and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. He also will evaluate and approve large and complex loans. Farrell has been with Valley National Bank since 1990, and was most recently its chief credit policy officer. He has an economics degree from Rutgers College.

Chuck Lero has been appointed to the senior loan officer position at Investors Savings Bank. He has been serving the real estate community in New Jersey for more than six years, and is a specialist in jumbo, conforming and FHA mortgage loan transactions. His main regions of responsibility will include Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean counties. He is a Project Management Institute graduate, and holds a dual bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing.

Law

Karen Ali has been appointed director of diversity at Pepper Hamilton LLP. Ali previously was vice president of compliance and regulatory affairs with the New Jersey Hospital Association, a health care trade group. Earlier, she was a senior attorney with Resolution Trust Corp., where her responsibilities included monitoring agency compliance with federal regulations governing contracting with small women- and minority- owned law firms in an U-state region. Ali is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and Princeton University. She serves on the board of trustees of Princeton's Class of 1978 Foundation and the selection committee for the Princeton Prize in Race Relations.

Newark- based law firm Saiber LLC has appointed Christie R. Garvey and Christopher J. Turano as associates. Both will practice business litigation and employment and labor law. Garvey, a former clerk to Donald S. Goldman (Superior Court ofNew Jersey-Law Division, Civil Part), graduated from Rutgers University School of Law - Newark and secured her bachelor's degree in political science and from Rutgers College. Turano, a former clerk to Marie P Simonelli (Superior Court of New Jersey -Appellate Division), received his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law, and a bachelor's degree in economics and business from Lafayette College.

The Somerset County Bar Association named David W. Trombadore, Esq. as its 109th president. A resident of Somerville, Trombadore has a general law practice involving family law, real estate, land use, estate planning and administration, and general commercial matters. He earned his juris doctor from Cornell Law School and a bachelor's degree from Princeton University. He is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, NewYork, Colorado and California.

Technology

Werum Software & Systems, a supplier to the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries, has appointed Ernst Felker to manage its Parsippany office as senior vice president of operations. He will be responsible for growing and managing Werum's U.S. operations. Prior to his appointment, he worked 10 years as a senior executive at Uhlmann Packaging Systems LP.
