Orange County Business Journal, Aug 31, 1998
Irvine-based Toshiba America Information Systems is set this week to introduce its first sub-$1,000 desktop PC for the business market.
The new computer is a 300 MHz version of Toshiba's Equium line and is based on Intel's Celeron processor - a lower-cost alternative to the Pentium II. It comes with 32 megabytes of memory and a 3-gigabyte hard drive. Toshiba also will introduce a higher-speed Celeron-based model and another system based on the 450 MHz Pentium II-based model. The 450MHz systems will start at $2,299.
