Taylor Woodrow Announces New Southern California President
Orange County Business Journal, Aug 13-Aug 19, 2007
Earlier this month, two of the nation's most respected homebuilders, Taylor Woodrow and Morrison Homes, merged in a move that created one of the largest homebuilders in the country. Following the merger announcement, Taylor Woodrow's Gil Miltenberger was named Division President, Southern California, in charge of all of the homebuikter's operations in the five-county region, which currently include 11 actively selling communities. The division is headquartered in In/ine.
The merger of Taylor Woodrow and Morrison Homes creates a lot of momentum (or us as a company and positions us for growth in an otherwise challenging marketplace," said Mr. Miltenberger. "Our reach is broadened and our product mix is diversified in California and around the country, which will positively influence the growth of our already strong footprint in Southern California. As a result, I have a very positive outlook on our opportunities in Southern California and there couldn't be a better time to take on this new leadership challenge."
Mr. Miltenberger will continue to report through Mike Forsum, Western Region President, whose geographic oversight has been expanded to include lour divisions in California, as well as Nevada and Colorado.
Mr. Forsum's expanded role has him overseeing both the Taylor Woodrow and Morrison Homes brands, which will remain separate and emphasize different product types. Taylor Woodrow will continue to specialize in mid-scale homes, while Morrison's focus is on first-time and move-up buyers. Under Mr. Miltenberger 's leadership, the Southern California division will continue to focus on the Taylor Woodrow brand.
Mr. Miltenberger has been with Taylor Woodrow for six years, during which time he has headed up land acquisition, set-up the company's San Diego and Coachella Valley operations and, more recently, managed Forward Planning and Sales & Marketing for the Southern California Division.
"Gil's understanding and love of our business, coupled with his experience, make him the perfect person for this exciting and challenging role," said Mr. Forsum. Overall, the result of this merger is that our company is uniquely poised for growth as a much larger scale builder that will be able to operate its business much more efficiently."
