Hirings, promotions and other moves at local businesses

BANKING

Mellon 1st Business Bank promoted Andy Williams to vice president-relationship manager at its Newport Beach office. Williams previously was assistant vice president-relationship manager. He will continue to manage a portfolio of loans and deposits for "middle-market wholesalers, manufacturers and real estate developers in Orange County.

CONSULTING

Iner & Associates Government Interface Consultants in Irvine named Derek Spaldlng to client services manager. Spalding will research government relations issues, track client public policy actions and staff public hearings.

FINANCE

Jon Prussel was named senior vice president of national sales at Garden Grove-based Informative Research. Prussel will lead a team of senior level account executives and advance the company's credit and mortgage-related services and programs.

HEALTHCARE

Jens von Gterice joined the South Coast Medical Center Foundation's board of trustees. Von Gierke currently is senior vice president of hospitality at Makar Properties LLC. The foundation is the charitable arm of South Coast Medical Center, a 208-bed hospital in Laguna Beach.

HOSPITALITY

The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast, owned by The Irvine Company, named Khalid Mirza director of food and beverage operations. Mirza has 22 years of experience in the industry. He most recently was the director of food and beverage at La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad.

Bruce Brainerd was named general manager of The Ritz-Cartton, Laguna Niguel. Brainerd will oversee all operations at the resort. He most recently was general manager for the Hyatt Regency La Jolla.

INSURANCE

Cynthea Vaglienty joined Tustin-based Yates & Associates as a commercial transportation underwriter/broker. Vaglienty has more than 10 years of experience in the insurance industry.

LAW

Lena Kraus joined Bryan Cave LLP as an associate in the Irvine office. Kraus will practice in the firm's commercial litigation client service group. Her practice focuses on business and real estate litigation.

Costa Mesa-based Rutan & Tucker LLP promoted Mark Austin, Roger Friedman, Edson McClellan, Lisa Neal, Michael Houston and Denise Mester to partners.

Salman Alam and David A. Beser joined Newport Beach-based Newmeyer & Dillion LLP as associates. Alam practices corporate and real estate law. Beser practices business, construction and real estate liti-gation.

MEDIA & MARKETING

Pacific Communications, owned by Irvine drug maker Allergan Inc., named Janine Annechino and Bernadette Cosgrove account supervisors. Annechino will manage the account for Juverderm, Allergan's wrinkle-reducing filler. Cosgrove will manage the account for San Diego-based Prometheus Laboratories Inc.

Stanton-based Couch & Philippi named Rachael Pokuta-Howe as national sales manager for the commercial real estate market. Howe will develop the most effective signs to market properties. She previously worked as a mortgage broker.

NONPROFIT

Big Brothers Big Sisters of OC added Anthony Mathews and Bob Lustig to its board.

Mathews is managing director of JP Morgan Private Bank. Lustig is zone vice president of operations-West for Panda Restaurant Group Inc.

Kim Faaborg LaPerle was promoted to director of faith relations for Habitat for Humanity of OC. LaPerle will oversee the development and maintenance of partnerships with faith-based organizations in the community.

Mission San Juan Capistrano named Peter Bastone to its mission preservation board. Bastone currently is the president and chief executive of Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center.

PRINTING AND GRAPHICS

Costa Mesa-based Consolidated Reprographics named Charles Shipp manager of customer relations. Shipp has 25 years of experience in the printing and copying industry.

RESTAURANTS

Marie Calender's promoted Ken St. Sure to vice president of operations. Sure will be responsible for 92 company restaurants. He previously was senior area director of operations and has been with the company since 1988.
