Plastics interns wanted

Central Penn Business Journal, Apr 27, 2007 by Ryan, Jim T

The Pennsylvania Plastics Initiative, a program to introduce young people to plastic manufacturing and technology, has formed paid internships for high school students statewide, said Alan Beily, a consultant with the initiative and York County-based McClarin Plastics Inc.

The program has five interns and wants more in the summer, with a big emphasis on expanding the program in the fall when school begins again. The goal is to have about 100 interns over the next 18 months. Students are employed at plastics companies for two hours a day, five days a week for a semester. The companies will pay $8 an hour, and they will be reimbursed by the state Department of Labor and Industry. The program is also funded by the U.S. Department of Labor.

For further information contact Beily at 632-3448 or abeily@comcast.net.
