Memorabilia auction set

Central Penn Business Journal, Aug 17, 2007 by Reardon, Dennis

Competition could be fiercer off the field at Commerce Bank Park in Harrisburg Aug. 30 during the Harrisburg Senators' baseball game.

Scores of autographed sports and celebri ty memorabilia will be up for bid during the game in a silent auction. The collectibles include a baseball signed by Hallof Fame Baltimore Orioles pitcher Jim Palmer, a T-shirt with the John Hancock of Hall of Fame W Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle "Mean" Joe Greene and a photo autographed by Academy Award-winning actor Al Pacino. The winners will be announced after the seventh inning.

Hershocks Inc. of Dauphin County is sponsoring the fourth annual "Support Our Veterans Silent Auction" to benefit hospitalized veterans at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. The proceeds will provide comfort items, such as toothbrushes, and services, such as wheelchairs, for the veterans. The federal government does not provide comfort items and services.

So far, Hershocks has raised $14,467 for the medical center's residents.

To view everything up for bid, visit www.hershocks.com. To place early-bird bids, starting Aug. 27, visit Hershocks' showroom at 3501 N. Sixth St. in Harrisburg.
