ACA Accepts 2009/10 Treasurer Nominations; Stockton Declares Candidacy

ACA International is now accepting nominations and declarations of candidacy for the office of treasurer in 2009/10. Nominations and declarations of candidacy may be made by contacting ACA Corporate Secretary Julie Brooks at 1(952) 928-8000, ext. 135, or brooksj@ acainternational.org.
In order to qualify to be nominated or elected as an ACA officer, the candidate must:
a. Be a natural person;
b. Be 18 years of age or older;
c. Be a member in good standing of this association;
d. If running for a unit seat, be a member in good standing of a unit whose business, or any portion thereof, is related to the collection of third-party debt;
e. If running for an at-large seat, be a member in good standing of a division or of a unit;
f. Unless otherwise waived, have paid the first-person/delegate member registration fee for the ACA Annual Convention held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the Membership at which their nomination will be considered; and,
g. Disclose any conflict of interest that may impact their service on the Executive Committee and also disclose any financial, business or commercial relationship they may have with any other member of the Executive Committee or candidate for executive office, such as participation in purchasing groups, debt buying purchasing pools or a common interest in any debt or credit related enterprise.
ACA International Standard Operating Procedures 7B1-1.04 Qualifications of Officer Candidates (as amended July 2007).
The election will occur at the ACA International Annual Meeting of the Membership, held in conjunction with ACA International's 70th Annual Convention and Exposition, July 13-15, 2009, at Wynn Las Vegas.
The purpose of the annual meeting is to elect the association's officers for 2009/10, receive the annual reports of the officers, directors, committees and chief executive officer, and to conduct such other business as may be directed by the board of directors.
Voting privileges and guidelines will be published in Collector proir to the annual meeting.
One ACA member has already announced his intention to run for treasurer. Tom Stockton, CEO of The CMI Group in Carrollton, Texas, became the first member to declare his candidacy for the 2009/10 election.
