Aerospace wire
TYCO ELECTRONICS. HARRISBURG. PA. Raychem brand SPEC 55 low fluoride aerospace wire and cable is an advance for aerospace electronics designers since low-fluoride XL-ETFE wire was not previously available to the industry. Minimizing fluoride levels in aerospace wire is very important since fluoride may evaporate from traditional XL-ETFE wire insulations, combine with moisture, and result in a corrosive substance. Corrosion in the proximity of wire, cable, and electronics does not bode well for reliability, long life, or performance of sensitive aerospace electronics. In addition to satellite, missile, and aircraft applications, SPEC 55 low-fluoride wire and cable can be used in test and measurement equipment and other sensitive electronic equipment. According to the company, there is also benefit to assemblies stored in sealed bags for long periods of time.
